KIST is currently recruiting for the positions listed below only. (Scroll down to view.)

Teaching Assistant*

Base Elementary School

Overview

- Provide support in the planning and implementation of educational programs for students, and in the assessment of and reporting on student progress and achievement.

- Assist in organizing the learning environment and support systems necessary to promote effective student learning and personal development.

- Contribute collaboratively to maintaining smooth classroom operations by assisting with various administrative tasks.

- Instruct students attending before- and/or after-school English and mathematics support classes.

Perform other general tasks as requested.

Notes

- Native English speaker required.

- ESL/TEFL/TESOL certificate and/or teaching qualifications (highly desirable).

Operational Division

 

Position

Systems Engineer

Base Main Office
Period Commencing when a suitable candidate is found - June 2018 (Possible annual renewal depending on appraised work performance and school needs)
Overview

- Manage and operate the school's IT systems (e.g. SharePoint Online, PowerSchool, Moodle).

- Analyze the school's IT systems and plan and develop solutions to make improvements.

- Assist in the assessment of network needs and with IT budget projections.

- Execute and facilitate a system of ongoing, timely and efficient hardware and software maintenance and upgrades.

- Liaise with domestic vendors in Japanese to arrange hardware maintenance.

- Perform other IT-related duties as requested.

Notes

- University degree.

- Bilingual skills in English and Japanese.

- Visa sponsorship available for foreign nationals (according to eligibility).

- Working hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday with 60 minutes total break time. Occasional Saturdays for annual whole-school events (working hours may vary). Attendance at a number of evening events during the year may also be required.

Position

School Nurse (Part-time)*

Base Nurse's Room (Main Office)
Period September 2017 - June 2018 (Possible annual renewal depending on appraised work performance and school needs)
Overview

- Provide health care services to students and staff.

- Provide basic first aid treatment to injured students and staff.

- Care for sick students who visit the nurse's room.

- Contact parents of students who become sick or injured at school.

- Accompany sick or injured students to medical clinics (Japanese required).

- Input student data and emergency contacts into the database. 

- Arrange the annual student health checks.

- Prepare documents on health matters.

- Perform other duties as requested.

Notes

- Qualification in nursing and/or pediatrics required.

- Communicative proficiency in English and Japanese.

- Prior experience working in public and/or school-based health care services (highly desirable)

- Must hold an appropriate working visa (foreign nationals only) (e.g. permanent resident, spouse or child of Japanese national, long-term resident). Visa sponsorship not available.

- Working hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with 45 minutes total break time (30 minutes for lunch and 15 minutes for afternoon break). Occasional overtime work.

- Initial hourly salary of 1,400 - 1,800 yen (commensurate with prior experience).

- Reimbursement for commuter expenses up to a maximum of 1,000 yen per day.

- Annual paid leave (as per Japanese labor law regulations).

- Health insurance and employment insurance available.
