Hello KIST Families! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing summer holiday with your loved ones.
This year, our school festival is returning after six years—thank you so much to those who have already volunteered to help us prepare for this exciting event.
Our early childhood students in K1 to K3 have now completed their first four weeks of the 2025–26 school year! Today, we celebrated this milestone with a joint assembly for K1, K2 and K3, which also coincided with International Dot Day. Each class prepared a short performance for this special occasion that demonstrated how the children have enjoyed many happy moments while settling into their new environments. I hope you have also enjoyed the many photos posted by our staff through Schoology!
On behalf of the school, I would also like to extend my gratitude to all those who supported the replacement of the artificial grass mats on our ECE playground last year, whether by donating time or funds toward the new design.
Phase one of the construction was completed over the summer, and the children are already enjoying the new play space! Here are some of their comments:
“I like it with the white thing—there’s a hole and I can see things inside. There’s so much to see!”
“I like it because the mountain is so fun — so slidy! It makes me feel so fast!”
“I like our new playground because it has a new slide!”
Phase two of the construction will begin next summer. We will be seeking donations (an official letter will be sent at a later date) and also hope to allocate part of the proceeds from the KIST Festival toward this project.
Finally, for this first issue of The Comet for the new school year, each of our homeroom teachers has prepared a short message about their class. You will find these on the next pages. I hope these help to give you a glimpse into some of the learning activities the children have participated in so far.
