I would first like to offer my sincere thanks to all of our LSP homeroom teachers. Every day, they are the ones who greet, support, and care for our students, and their dedication was especially evident during the return of KIST Festival at the end of the first quarter. For many of us, this was our first time experiencing the festival, and our homeroom teachers played an integral role in guiding students through the entire process.
Each homeroom worked collaboratively to design and run unique stalls and games. Students demonstrated outstanding teamwork teamwork—sharing ideas, creating designs, and solving problems together to bring their concepts to life. Their creativity, initiative, and collective effort resulted in fantastic booths that were widely enjoyed by our community.
A special thank you must also go to the teachers who volunteered to take part in some of the most entertaining activities of the day day—bravely agreeing to have pies thrown at their faces or to be soaked by wet sponges. Their willingness to join in the fun brought a great deal of laughter and excitement, and it meant a lot to the students.
I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our parents. Many families donated an incredible number of prizes and actively participated in the LSP booths. Your generosity, enthusiasm, and support truly contributed to the warm, celebratory atmosphere of the event. It was a powerful testament to the KIST spirit and the strong partnership between home and school.
Thanks to the leadership of our homeroom teachers, the enthusiasm of our students, the generosity of our parents, and the joyful participation of our staff, this year s festival was a great success. Below is the breakdown of ticket sales and funds raised by each LSP homeroom. All proceeds contribute directly to enhancing our school community.
A special congratulations to G8B Sponge Toss , who achieved the highest number of ticket sales this year. Your teamwork, creativity, and energy were clearly reflected in the popularity and success of your booth.
Please enjoy the following reflections, where students share their experiences, learning, and highlights from KIST Festival.
As a class, G8B decided to create a sponge sponge-throwing activity for KIST Festival, where participants threw wet sponges at volunteer teachers. It became a huge success, and we made the most profit out of all the booths, earning around 98,000 yen! While preparing, we learned the importance of teamwork and communication, with everyone sharing ideas and even donating materials to minimize costs. Since the school year had only just begun, many students were not yet familiar with each other, and as a result, some were hesitant to collaborate or ask for help. However, by sharing our thoughts with each other, we agreed on a final idea together. The most memorable part of the experience was seeing how much fun people had participating and knowing we created something that brought our community together. Aayan G8B
This year's KIST Festival was an unforgettable experience for our class as we teamed up to run two exciting attractions: Trick or Shoot and Gladiators. Preparing for the festival taught us the important lesson that “everyone needs to work together to make something happen.” From designing the games and creating decorations to gathering supplies and transporting everything to one room one floor above our homeroom, every student played a crucial role. Trick or Shoot challenged players to aim rubber rubber-band guns at holes cut into cardboard ghosts and pumpkins, while Gladiators brought nonstop laughter as players balanced on a beam and battled with pool noodles noodles—sometimes with us acting as dramatic hosts, giving small kids easy wins or joining intense matches between older students. Despite challenges like collecting materials and hauling heavy props upstairs, we pulled together and created a booth filled with energy, creativity, and a massive prize area stocked with snacks, manga, plushies, and more. The funniest and most memorable moments came from chaotic Gladiator battles, teachers joining the fun, and determined players repeatedly aiming for high high-point Trick or Shoot targets to earn enough Winner Tickets for big prizes. These shared experiences made the festival not only a success, but a highlight of our year. A small kid had no partner, so we stepped to make the little one feel included, the entire class relishing this beautiful moment. Shambhavi G7BFestival Fever: 7th grade's big moment at KIST!
Students recognised for being kind and caring in LSP
In addition to celebrating the success of KIST Festival, we also took time in our recent assembly to recognise students who have embodied our community values of kindness and caring. These students were nominated by their teachers for consistently demonstrating compassion, empathy, and a willingness to support others in both small and significant ways. Below are some of the reasons they were nominated:
- Always brings a caring, cheerful, and compassionate attitude to class. - Works extremely well with all students and goes out of their way to help others. - Consistently friendly and helpful to those around them. When a friend was injured, they took great care to make sure the friend felt supported in class. - Always the first to offer help with equipment equipment—both setting up and putting it away away—and provided encouragement to a friend recovering from an injury. - Frequently offers help to peers, even giving another student a notebook so they could organise their notes more effectively. - Showed kindness by helping the teacher realise a classmate s name was being mispronounced. - Took initiative by encouraging the class to sing happy birthday to two peers, creating a warm and inclusive moment. - Demonstrates strong awareness of the atmosphere and the feelings of others, always ready to lend a hand when classmates are struggling.
These students have shown that kindness and care are powerful forces in building a positive school culture. We are proud of their contributions and grateful for the example they set for the entire LSP community.
