I hope all new students to the Lower Secondary School have felt warmly welcomed into our vibrant school community. The start of a school year is always an exciting time, full of opportunities to learn, grow, and discover new passions.
Our school continues to offer a wide range of extracurricular activities in sports, arts, and service, providing many ways for students to get involved outside the classroom. We also encourage students to make the most of our facilities, including the music rooms, art spaces, and the Library Media Centre
(LMC).
As LSP coordinator, I would like to highlight some key aspects of the Lower Secondary Programme this year, including our approach to homework, note organisation, and fostering kindness and care in our community. I want to warmly welcome our new Grade 6 students, as well as all students who have recently joined our school. It is wonderful to see how quickly they are becoming part of our community and how our returning students have helped them settle into secondary school life.
Staying organised when things feel new
The beginning of the school year can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Developing good habits early helps students build confidence and independence. A few simple strategies include:
- Use a planner or diary: Record homework and key dates right away.
- Set routines: Create consistent times for homework, reading, and rest.
- Break down big tasks: Divide projects into smaller, manageable steps.
- Keep materials ready: Have binders, pens, and subject folders organised.
- Ask for help: Teachers and classmates are always there to support.
The new and improved homework diary
This year, all LSP students will receive our new and improved homework diary, designed to support both students and parents in staying organised.
For students:
- Record homework daily and note due dates.
- Plan ahead using the weekly view to avoid last-minute stress.
- Track deadlines and equipment needed for each subject.
- Use space for questions or reflections to share with teachers.
For parents:
- See what homework is being set and when it is due.
- Encourage routines by checking steady progress.
- Use the diary as a simple communication tool between home and school.
Why organisation matters
Remaining organised is one of the most important skills for academic success. It helps students reduce stress, meet deadlines, balance activities, and take pride in their learning. Alongside the diary, arriving to class with the correct equipment ensures students can participate fully and confidently.
Organisation and readiness set the foundation for success—not just in school, but in building lifelong habits of responsibility and independence.
Starting the year on a high note
With the new homework diary, positive routines, and the support of our school community, students are well-prepared to make the most of the year ahead.
Let’s start the year off on a high note! Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to celebrating your successes in LSP throughout the year.

The purpose of this Homework Diary is to assist you in planning for your studies. You can write down your homework, keep track of your assessments and use sections as handy references. It is your responsibility to bring your homework diary to class every day, and show it to your parents regularly.Purpose of this Homework Diary
