The Fall athletics season is in session, and similar to the past few years, we have a large number of students participating and eager to play games. First, a recap of the end of the year.
2025 Spring season recap
ISTAA U-18 and U14 futsal tournaments were held at the end of the previous school year (Spring 2025).
- The U-18 girls did not follow up their championship season last year having an average season and a less than spectacular tournament finishing third. Their prospects look strong for next Spring so hopefully they can get back to their winning ways!
- The U-18 boys had some solid wins vs BST and Columbia during the season but again slipped up in the tournament where they lost 3 and won 1. Two years of not making the final after many years of consistently getting there will weigh heavy this coming year.
- Our U-14 boys had a solid season, but a combination of luck and bad timing meant they did not have a good tournament. They lost 2 and tied 1. Their future prospects look good with a few new students having joined.
- Our U-14 girls had a particularly good season and great tournament. They beat BST and UIA and tied DSTY in the round-robin portion and then beat DSTY 2–0 in the final to become **ISTAA CHAMPIONS**!!
The following Fall season teams are preparing for games, matches, and races:
- **X-Country—all MS and HS**: We have 40 students on the team though we will only be taking 30–32 to races as the coaches have incorporated weekly time challenges this year. We have many great coaches supporting the team. HS Head Coach>> **Mr. Wong**; MS Head Coach>> **Mr. Owen**
- **MS boys’ soccer**: 20 boys. Head Coach>> **Mr. Flores**; Assistant Coach>> **Mr. Cosens**
- **MS girls’ volleyball**: 30+ girls. Head Coach>> **Mr. Buck**; Assistant Coach>> Miss Nihei
- **JV/Varsity boys’ and girls’ volleyball**: 18-20 each. Head Coach>> Mr. Ota
- **HS girls’/boys’ tennis**: 18 students. Supervisors>> **Mr. Cowe, Miss Cowie, Miss Alba, Mr. Ota**

Thank you to all the coaches, administrators, management, and parents for all your support for KIST Athletics. We are looking to build on the success of the past three seasons.

- The Kanto JV girls’ volleyball and ISTAA U-18 girls’ volleyball 2nd place.
- The Kanto JV girls’ basketball 3rd place and ISTAA U-18 girls’ basketball 2nd place.
- The Kanto MS girls’ basketball A team and ISTAA U-14 girls champions!!
- The ISTAA U-14 girls’ futsal champions!
