The school year at KIST commences from mid-August and continues until mid-June. There are two semesters as follows:

• Semester 1:        August – January
• Semester 2:        February – June

• With the exception of school bus users, all K1 to K3 students must be accompanied onto the school grounds and taken to their classroom by their parents.
• Lessons for K1 and K2 students begin from 9:30; however, supervision is available from 8:30. Students may not enter the classrooms or the school buildings before 8:30.
• After Care is available for K1 to K3 students on Tuesdays (excluding short Tuesdays) and Thursdays only. Reservations are required in advance and a priority system is followed. Families who need additional care beyond the hours of After Care may wish to enroll their children in the LEAP after-school program (charges apply).
• Students in Grades 1 and above are not permitted to enter the school gate before 8:00 a.m. as teacher supervision is not available. After school, students should leave the grounds promptly. No students should be remaining on campus after 3:30 p.m. unless they are participating in co-curricular activties, studying in the library, or otherwise directly supervised by a teacher.
• On short Tuesdays, all students from K1 through Grade 12 must leave the grounds promptly at 2:10 p.m. The dates for short Tuesdays are indicated on the school calendar.
• If the start and/or finish time of school changes due to excursions, class events etc., families will be notified in advance in writing.
• Parents should ensure that children arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of school.
